Piquantly Peared Pecans

A new twist on  roasted pecans!

Ingredients

1/4 Cup Butter or margarine

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 Cup brown sugar

2 T curry powder

1 T ground ginger

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

1 - 1 1/2 lbs pecan halves

1/2  cup Palatable Pair Piquant Pear Chutney

Procedure

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Prepare two baking sheets by lining them with paper towels.

In a large skillet over medium heat, heat butter and oil until butter melts. Lower flame. Stir in brown sugar, curry powder, ginger, and cayenne.  Add pecans and stir until well coated. Add Palatable PearPiquant Pear Chutney and mix well.  Pecans burn easily, so keep them moving and watch them carefully.  Salt to taste.

Spead pecams on paper towel lined baking sheets.  Bake at 350 degrees until pecans are toasted -- about 10 to 15 minutes.

Romove pecans from oven.  Immediately remove pecans from paper towels. Turn out onto a cutting board covered with baking parchment.  Allow to cool.  Flavors will not really emerge until nuts are cool.

Makes about 7 cups.
